Going Live with IRA
Introduction
IRA is a system for collection, organization & analysis of survey data of losses caused by disasters associated to natural hazards. The key purpose of the system is to reduce time required to record and retrieve disaster information by current paper-based system. IRA consists of a main system(DIMS) and a front end system (IRA mobile app). The IRA mobile application collects the survey data through a form filling process and stores it in a main system. The DIMS arranges and analyse the systematic collection of data and generate reports for making quick decisions in any disasters to save human lives.
As Nepal is frequent to earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters a system was needed for the government to not only management various aspects of these disasters but also for quick diagnosis of disasters. Due to the app and the DIMS system was being developed for use by the local government, a dual language system was a must to create.
The IRA App
The app was created for Android devices using Java, an older but a tried and tested language and being among the most used language for android app development.
The app contains a home screen that lists all the process that the user can access. With survey form available in-app the user can create, edit and send these forms to the central DIMS system.
IRA Application was created to be used by the initial response team to quickly analyze and report on disasters. This is the first step of many in the disaster management domain for response and recovery efforts and we at EKbana are proud to be part of developing such a vital tool in the development of our country.
